Memories

Memories of you
are scraps of forgotten times,
When, tyranny of loneliness
barely, stood family ties.
My worries were of a school boy,
and within the shade, that covered us,
We flew and explored.

Change arrived, marked progress.
Solid giving way,
To varnish and glazed constructs.
Moving on two wheels,
Across narrow and wide lanes,
Gave way to four, stuck, spewing gas.

And now, you are gone,
Bonds are slowly and surely, slipping away.
To the man I knew,
Here is your life, a celebration.
And from me a parting, toast.
